Admin MIAWill anyone who has submitted any work that needed approval by vote please withdraw the piece and resubmit it. Our admin kind of went MIA and I am not sure if she will be returning or not. Intern55 kind of went off the grid in the past month and I really hope everything is alright but in the mean time I will be the only one voting. Thank you for your time in reading this and your patience. If anyone feels like helping me out with admin duties please send me a note or send it through the group.
Monthly Features!!!!So :icontheintern55: pointed out that the group needs to be a bit more active and suggested we do monthly features. I really like the idea of doing that so that is exactly what we're going to do! We need to work out exactly how we are going to do this but fear not we will do a February Feature! So keep an eye out for the feature it will be coming out in the next couple of days, and your work may just show up in the group journal!
As always, go out there and have fun! We love seeing everyone's work!
LGBT Support (photo project)Ok, so I recently read a journal post on a new affiliate of our group. Here's the link http://fav.me/d6wr01c It basically says that a friend of :iconslambaux: is getting married and her family doesn't support her lesbian lifestyle. Slambaux, the great friend they are wants to make a slideshow showcasing DA members out there supporting her decision and lifestyle all over the world to show her that people out there do care! I think it's a great idea! If you do not support homosexuality, it is your right so please don't flame this journal or the other. If you do please participate in this project! The members that do will have the photos they submit to the project featured in the journal on our main page (and a couple of their other works as well). All you need to do is submit the photo onto DA and send us a link of the submission.
Remember this will be shown in a family setting (a wedding) so the photo must be family friendly. A suggestion that :iconslambaux: made was hold a sign saying
Some Small Changes. Please Read!First off you may have noticed that we have gained so new members and I would like to welcome them and thank them for joining up with us!
Secondly, I made a couple adjustments to the submission process on some folders. Horror/Macabre is now up for vote, only because I would like to know what's going into that folder.
Submissions to the featured folder are now limited to one per month as well. Please don't be afraid to submit to the featured folder but try to send us your best work! I have noticed that members have been looking at which folder they are submitting to, thank you for that.
There is a small bit of news, we now have a new folder. Thanks to :iconkleinerengl: who submitted and suggested some wonderful photos in the Semi-Nude/Lingerie type category. I realized I never made a folder for that so I just did! Fill up the folder members! Oh and if anyone thinks that there should be another folder that I haven't thought of please let me know. This is our
On the Hunt (part two)I'm on the hunt for more members still and I really would love some help from you guys. Tell all of your friends about this group tell everyone you know! Remember that the more of us there are, the more out there and exposed your art is, and isn't that what we all want? So join me (please) and go out there and invite people, sift through the endless lists of deviants and reach out! There are so many great photographers that have yet to be found and yet to be shown off to the world. Let's go find them!!!!!
New Affiliate Having ContestOne of our new affiliates is having a contest and I think we should show them some support and join in the fun and games. You do need to join up with the group but that's only a plus! :iconphotographershub: is running this contest and it is based around the subject of whatever you are thankful for. Be it photography, arty, family, pets, anything you can think of. So get out there, join up, and shoot something!

Looking for AdminsOk I give, I need some help!
The group is stagnating a bit and that is a big no-no.
I realize that I haven't been a super founder over here and I've kinda let myself slide.
If you wish to apply for the admin positions, I think there will be about 2-4 positions available, please note me!
I need artists that have a drive and can help drive this group, help recruit members, and essentially help when I'm not around.
Features 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I figured I would randomly go through each member's gallery and post three of my favorites from their photos. Don't worry I will get to all of you. I will do my best to do around 15 members a week, this time.
I've been lax about this for the past couple months but I figure if i make the goal a little easier to attain it'll make my life a bit easier in return.
I hope you enjoy!

Imagine that you are a young social worker, dedicated to finding out the hidden and forgotten old souls who haunt the cold, mean streets of the city. You seek to report on their living conditions, possibly recommending they be removed from their roach-infested “homes.”

Manip AcademyIntroducing a new project!
Manip Academy (thanks, cristii, for inspiration for the name) is a new photomanipulation project inspired by projecteducate. We all love to learn, and we learn best from one another. Here's our chance to share what we know.
Manip Academy is an education initiative designed to spread the knowledge and the love. It is a collaboration between CRPhotomanipulation and we-HEART-photomanip. We will share tips and tricks for photomanipulation success. It is difficult to write tutorials, but anyone can write a simple tip or describe how they achieved a specific effect.
This project will feature two weekly articles written by the community every week, on Mondays and Thursdays. This will be an ongoing project within our community, and we hope that many people will take advantage of the chance to sign up to submit one blog or even just a few sentences to help the community.

Check your Angles
Avoid unflattering angles, don't frame your model with their arms or legs chopped off unless it works for the image. If in doubt, fully frame them and do the chopping afterwards in post-processing! Don't forget to check that the tops of their heads and their feet are in focus. Missing feet are disconcerting!
Be the Director
As the Photographer, most people will be looking to you for direction. There's no time to be shy when you're behind the camera! Keep calm to help your model remain relaxed but make sure they're not made to feel awkward if you lack giving instruction. Pose them well, avoid direct bright sunlight and check out your background.
Eye contact...or not
Eye contact isn't always necessary, in fact candid journalistic style photographs often work best. Your subject doesn't have to be looking directly at the camera for it to be a successful shoot, but yo
Basic CSS Style GuideIntroduction
CSS is a style language used to define the style and formatting of web pages. It is used in conjunction with HTML.
If we think of HTML as the building blocks of the web then, essentially, CSS is the painter and decorator. Very simply, HTML defines the structure of the page and CSS defines the style.
What I'll be helping you with here is getting to grips with the basics of CSS. I'll be explaining how use CSS as well as providing a number of examples that you can use to style your own web pages and journals. All you need to do is copy/paste the code and replace the sample text with your own content. Along with the quick reference I've also written a brief glossary of terms and provided a list of useful links in case you wish to do some further reading.
A point of note is that while the information and examples I've given here apply to CSS use anywhere on the web, this guide itself is geared towards the use of CSS on deviantART. As such, and given that this h
